I find an overall very positive response from supervisors, employees, and am most surprised at the number of employees with significant health issues who aren't getting outside care but they seem pleased to have this option. A great example is a young male and his wife who both work here. They were unaware about the husband’s health problems until they came to me. They listened to the health information, he changed his diet, they started exercising and his weight is down 10 lb. No meds, just knowledge, coaching and motivation. It’s nice to do visits and hear people say they like not spending hours in the doctor’s office and having someone who listens.

My employer's Healthstat FNP does a wonderful job. She is always friendly, compassionate, very helpful and very adept at her job. I have had several occasions to see her and she is always a good listener and very interested in her patients and follows up on their care. Having this service is one of the best benefits.

I have three patients who had significant hypertension and several patients with hyperlipidemia - all are now well controlled and improved. I also administered 95 flu vaccines which is about 50% of the employee population.

The Healthstat on-site clinics are an integral part of our strategy to hold down rising healthcare costs and continue to be one of the highest rated programs we offer our employees.
-
Since the opening of our Healthstat on-site clinics, lost work time has reduced significantly and the overall health of our employees has greatly improved.
-
By providing the Healthstat on-site clinics, we have not experienced the significant increase in healthcare expenses that we would have otherwise. We have also seen a significant impact on lost work time and our associates' overall health has improved considerably.

One of my favorite things about being a Healthstat clinician is the unique opportunity I have to implement wellness programs. At my clinical site, I met bi-weekly with 10 of the company's employees to offer support and education about weight management. After 3 months, these employees had a combined weight loss of 87 lbs. Becoming a Healthstat provider has been one of the top employment decisions in my 23-year career.

How many times as practitioners have we heard "I didn't have time to come back", "I couldn't get off work" or "I couldn't afford an appointment"? Healthstat eliminates those common barriers. Employees who perhaps would never seek out healthcare providers are now able to have excellent care provided to them in an easily accessible environment. Having on-site nurse practitioners in the workplace is a wonderful concept.

Over the course of the last year, I have witnessed first-hand what impact the Healthstat on-site clinic has made on the lives of the employees. Many individuals have been made aware of their increased risk of chronic diseases. By addressing their conditions, many employees have returned to the clinic to comment how much better they are feeling, what better quality of life they are experiencing and how the knowledge has put them in control of their health.

Having the health care center here on site was a real selling point for me when I was offered this position. I'd give a dollar-on-the-hour in order to have access to a practitioner where I work so I don't have to leave work to get blood drawn or see someone when I'm sick.
-
Of the 9 clinic visit follow-ups today, 7 had reductions in blood pressure and 5 had lost weight. One patient even told me his vision was no longer blurred. He had experienced a significant decrease in blood pressure, loss of weight and verbalized healthy changes in food selection.

I find a very positive response from supervisors and employees. I am most surprised at the number of employees with significant health issues who weren't getting care at all - they seem pleased to have the on-site clinic as an option.

After the nurse practitioner conducted a seminar on "Diabetes: What it Means For You", an employee stopped by my office to let me know how informative it was. She said the nurse practitioner gave her answers to questions she hadn't thought to ask and tested her feet for numbness, which her doctor had never done even though she has been diagnosed as diabetic for some time.

I diagnosed a gentleman with a deep vein thrombosis; he is receiving treatment and doing well. I also saw a young man with atrial fibrillation. He went from the clinic to the hospital. He was at great risk to have another stroke. I do not believe that either of these employees would have sought prompt medical attention for their symptoms if the clinic was not here. Since both of these problems have the potential to be life-threatening, potentially disabling and can result in very costly complications, the advantage to early diagnosis and intervention is significant.
